"The scouts intend to stand up for their constitutional rights," said Robert Bork Jr., a spokesman for the national organization, which has a youth membership of about 2.9 million.

"The policy [against gays] is not going anywhere," Bork added.

Late last week, Mayor Street called for the local Cradle of Liberty Council to denounce the national policy, pay fair-market-value rent, or vacate the stately building it occupies at 22d and Winter Streets, near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

i'm not in the business of subsidizing intolerance and discrimination with my city wage tax dollars so i agree with the stfu+gtfo.

sadly there's poor boy scouts that are unwillingly caught in the losing end of this that won't be able to camp, trail hike, tie knots, or do whatever the hell they do. i guess next year's cub scounts won't know what it would be like to discriminate against other people rent-free on public property. definitely breaks my heart.

movie review: a scanner darkly

it came out in limited release this weekend so i saw it last night at the ritz. overall, it's not a great movie nor a bad movie; it kind of settles in that nook of a movie that didn't meet its full potential. at the same time, it's supposed to be super-authentic to the book's word and spirit. it's confusing and disorienting, but that's what it's supposed to be. i think the saddest part of this movie is that there's numerous scenes in the movie that are unbelievable but they don't sum up to an unbelievable movie. keanu reeves, robert downey jr, woody harrelson, wynona rider are so well cast in the movie and fit their parts so perfectly.

ign posted the first 24 minutes of the film, which i think is really cool and hope to see more commonplace.
